To integrate green chemistry principles into middle school science education and enhance environmental literacy, we developed a project-based learning module centered on the extraction and application of plant secondary metabolites (PSMs).

It can be challenging for beginners in organic chemistry to learn it using traditional methods due to the complexity and interdisciplinary nature of this subject, accompanied by negative emotions such as anxiety, boredom, and frustration, which are not conducive to motivating learners to develop an interest in chemistry. To address this problem, an educational game, Chemjong, a blend of Chinese mahjong and organic chemistry, was introduced into university education in Hangzhou Normal University.
