1 Introduction Metallacycles are of interest in areas including supramolecular chemistry and molecular magnetism. In the former they have formed structural components of for example complex knots, catenanes, and rotaxanes [1-4]. In the latter, they were initially studied as finite models of low-dimensional magnets, but it rapidly became clear that their magnetic properties were important in their own right.

Dinuclear ytterbium(III) benzamidinate complexes with bridging S32-, Se22- and Te22- ligands: synthesis, structure and magnetic properties Treatment of Yb(II) complex [L2Yb(THF)2] (L = PhC(NSiMe3)2) with elemental sulfur, selenium or tellurium resulted the isolation of a series of dinuclear Yb(III) complexes featuring side-on bound S32- (1), Se22- (2) or Te22- (3) moieties, respectively. Magnetic study on these complexes revealed that 3 is a rare lanthanide telluride single-molecule magnet (SMM).

Precipitation is one of the most important components in the water and energy cycles. Radars are considered the best available technology for observing the spatial distribution of precipitation either from the ground since the 1980s or from space since 1998.
