Abstract Diclofenac (DCF; (2-(2-(2,6-dichlorophenylamino) acetic acid) phenyl), an extensively utilized pharmaceutical compound in personal care products, has been identified as an emerging environmental contaminant. Its persistent bioaccumulation in ecosystems exerts detrimental effects on both aquatic and terrestrial organisms. However, to date, only a limited number of diclofenac-degrading bacterial strains have been successfully isolated and characterized.
