Abstract Light orchestrates cotyledon greening and growth by coordinating chloroplast development with cell division and expansion, yet the molecular integrator of these processes remains unknown. Here we identify RDE (REGULATOR OF DG1 EXPRESSION), a conserved DNA architectural factor that synchronizes thylakoid protein complex biogenesis during chloroplast development with the G1–S transition of cell cycle progression in Arabidopsis thaliana.

Introduction Mitochondria and chloroplasts, descendants of endosymbiotic events, retain their own genomes but rely heavily on nuclear-encoded proteins for their function. In plants, c. 1000 mitochondrial and 3000–4000 chloroplast proteins are synthesized in the cytosol and imported into their respective organelles (Cline & Dabney-Smith, 2008; Duncan et al., 2013; Murcha et al., 2014; Ghifari et al., 2018; Nakai, 2018; Thomson et al., 2020; Xu et al., 2021).

Abstract Recent observations of superconductivity in twisted bilayer WSe2 (refs. 1,2) have extended the family of moiré superconductors beyond twisted graphene3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15. In WSe2, two different twist angles were studied, 3.65° (ref. 1) and 5.0° (ref. 2), and two seemingly distinct superconducting phase diagrams were reported, raising the question of whether the superconducting phases in the two devices share a similar origin.
