Personalized pulmonary rehabilitation program for patients with post‐acute sequelae of COVID‐19: A proof‐of‐concept retrospective study
1 TAKE HOME MESSAGE After rehabilitation, significant (re)opening of the small airways was observed, resulting in decline in air trapping and recruitment of alveoli. Rehabilitation had a significant impact on quality of life and cardiorespiratory fitness of patients with PASC. 2 BACKGROUND In 2019, the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 was at the root of a pandemic (Ciotti et al., 2020). Common signs and symptoms included fever, cough, and tiredness (Ochani et al., 2021).
Unraveling pathophysiologic mechanisms contributing to symptoms in patients with post‐acute sequelae of COVID‐19 (PASC): A retrospective study
Measurements and endpoints Demographic data were collected including age, gender, height, and weight. After a general clinical examination, assessment of current symptoms and concomitant medication, baseline measurements were executed. All patients performed a pulmonary function test (PFT) (Vyntus Body, Vyaire Medical Chicago). Dynamic lung volumes as expiratory capacity in 1 s (FEV1) and forced vital capacity (FVC) were measured by spirometry.
