Diagnosis and treatment of hepatic hilar lymph node metastasis in hepatic alveolar echinococcosis patients: a real-world single-center experience
1 Introduction Alveolar echinococcosis (AE) is a serious helminthic zoonosis caused by the larvae of Echinococcus multilocularis (EM). It is primarily prevalent in Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and the pastoral regions of western China, and China alone accounts for more than 90% of the global burden, with more than 16,000 cases annually (1). In these regions, definitive hosts such as foxes and dogs excrete feces containing EM eggs.
