1 Introduction Lung carcinoma is responsible for the majority of cancer-related deaths on a global scale, and its subtype non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) comprises nearly 85% of all lung cancer diagnoses (1). Of Asian populations, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations are particularly prevalent in NSCLC patients, accounting for a mutation rate of 30-50% (2).
