1 Introduction Ketamine, chemically designated as C13H16ClNO, and also recognized by its systematic name 2-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-(methylamino) cyclohexanone, is a potent agent within the phencyclidine (PCP) class of pharmaceuticals. This compound, first crafted by the distinguished Professor Calvin Stevens in the year 1962, was subsequently sanctioned for use as an anesthetic in clinical settings in 1970.
