Abstract Objectives: Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA)-associated vasculitides (AAV) is associated with an increased cardiovascular risk, particularly the myeloperoxidase AAV serotype (MPO-AAV). Distinct alterations in monocyte phenotypes may cause accelerated atherosclerotic disease in AAV. Methods: A cohort including 43 AAV patients and 19 healthy controls were included for downstream analyses.

Introduction Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) is a rare and heterogeneous disease causing inflammation of the blood vessel wall of small- (and medium-) sized blood vessels. AAV can be classified clinically into granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (eGPA) and is often associated with antibodies directed against proteinase-3 (PR3) or myeloperoxidase (MPO) [1,2].
