1 Introduction Across the globe, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third leading cause of death related to cancer, with many patients receiving a diagnosis after tumors have reached an advanced size (1, 2). Despite advancements in treatment modalities—including hepatectomy, liver transplantation, local ablation, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy—the prognosis for patients with large hepatocellular carcinoma (LHCC) remains poor, characterized by low 5-year survival rates (3–7).
