Introduction Bietti crystalline dystrophy (BCD; OMIM 210370) is a rare autosomal recessive retinal dystrophy first described by Italian ophthalmologist G. B. Bietti in 1937 (1). BCD is characterized by numerous shimmering yellow-white crystalline deposits at the posterior pole of the retina associated with, and in some cases, similar crystalline deposits are also observed at the corneoscleral limbus. BCD is also accompanied by RPE atrophy and pigment clumping (2).
