1 Introduction Oily wastewater, one of the most common effluents, is continuously produced from diverse human activities, including cooking, vehicle washing, petroleum extraction, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. For instance, the petroleum industry alone generates more than 39 million m3 of oily wastewater each day [1, 2]. Such large volumes of wastewater require effective treatment to mitigate environmental hazards and alleviate freshwater scarcity [3].
