1 Introduction Microfluidic devices that use open channels to confine and transport liquids on a solid surface in a controlled manner are gaining attention as a novel approach to microfluidics.[1-3] These devices, termed “open microfluidic channels,” offer benefits like ease of fabrication and the flexibility to introduce analytical samples at any desired point.
