Yutong Yang’s Biography

Yutong Yang (she/her) is a trilingual opera journalist based in Shenzhen, China. She wrote an 8,000-word guest commentary for enjoyGUDIAN, China’s most influential classical music platform, in 2018. In 2019, she returned to report on Pretty Yende’s La Traviata début at the Palais Garnier, upon invitation from the Editor-In-Chief. Earlier this year, she covered the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2021 for Opera, as the youngest contributor in the history of China’s only publicly distributed magazine dedicated to opera and its culture. Having joined the women-led 26K+ platform 360° of Opera® in June as Contributing Editor, she has published nine articles to date. With her pop culture savvy and knack for social media outreach, she strives to bridge languages and cultures and uplift marginalized voices.
