Social media and media have become one and the same, in that people equally go to both to receive information and news.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To be a storyteller, revealing truths of world situations, educating and informing people to care.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

Well, none of them are appropriate to write here, but all became incredibly viral and misunderstood. I will leave it at that.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

A clear idea and why you think I am the voice to tell this specific story.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Word, Pages, CapCut, FinalCut, iMovie, Photoshop, etc.

Instagram and YouTube

Why did you become a journalist?

Educating, informing, and sharing stories about world affairs was always important to me. Journalism made sense.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I wrote articles.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Focusing on values behind genuine human rights, social justice, and civil rights.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Be true to yourself. Focus on facts. Tell the story while understanding your audience and how they might absorb it.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Any time and every day.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

Arranging for me to be on the ground, reporting and creating content, in order to cover the story.

Clean water

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Speaking at events, in advocacy meetings, pursuing activism initiatives, spending time with family/ friends, working out, adventure sports

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Diversifying the publications I read is important. I try to understand the publications from around the world and their readership.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

The misperception is in the misrepresentation, where people focus on mass opinions instead of focusing on facts from reliable sources.
