1 Introduction Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide [1]. Because of the complex etiology and insidious early symptoms of lung cancer, more than 70% of patients are diagnosed with metastatic stage IV disease at the time of presentation, leaving very limited treatment options; thus, the 5-year survival rate is less than 4% [2-4]. The distant metastasis of lung cancer cells is the primary determinant of a poor lung cancer prognosis.
