It is almost nine years to the day that one of my best friends killed themselves. I do not remember many of our conversations. I remember what he liked. The Smiths and Pikmin, mainly. I remember his face though we were strictly online friends who met through a fairly niche internet forum. I have not spoken openly about his passing like this before. When I do speak of it it's usually with a resigned silence or with the feeling of "everyone knows you're sad, Yvonne. Be quiet.

Man suspected of burglary slips in snow, drops knife

Editor's note: This story was updated to clarify that the man suspected of burglary was detained. One man was detained and police are seeking others in connection with a Christmas burglary at South Lake Tahoe. Police were called around 6:30 a.m. Thursday to a vacation residence in the 3100 block of Fresno Avenue at South Lake Tahoe. Residents awoke to find someone rummaging through their personal belongings.
