3. Results and Discussion 3.1. Characteristics of Water Quantity and Nitrogen Concentrations in Influent and Effluent 3.1.1. Water Quantity The water quantity of the influent varied greatly between the dry and wet seasons. The amount of influent in the dry season was below 10 × 103 m3 month−1, except January (18.66 × 103 m3 month−1), while most of that in the wet season was more than 100 × 103 m3 month−1, and the highest water quantity was in August, which was as high as 643 × 103 m3 month−1.

Optimum water depth ranges of dominant submersed macrophytes in a natural freshwater lake
The field survey explicitly showed the hump-shaped correlations between community biomass, species richness and the water depth gradient both in the polydominant and monodominant communities. However, the distribution range of water depth, biomass and frequency of dominant species were different from those of companion species; furthermore, the distribution range of water depth, biomass and frequency of individual species were also different between polydominant and monodominant communities.
