Objective In cases of sepsis and an excessive inflammatory response, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) has the potential to provide immunomodulation by removing cytokines and inflammatory mediators. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the Oxiris filter, which has endotoxin and cytokine adsorption properties, in the pediatric population and compare it with conventional filters.

This was a retrospective study conducted at the Zeynep Kamil Women and Children’s Health Training and Research Hospital. A total of 280 ELBW preterm infants who were born with a birth weight of below 1000 g between 2019 and 2024 were included in the study. The study was conducted in compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki and was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Zeynep Kamil Women and Children’s Health Training and Research Hospital (Approval No. 2021–32).
