1 Introduction Iridoids are a class of noncanonical monoterpenes, and hundreds of iridoids act as natural defensive chemicals in 57 known families within the angiosperm (Dinda et al. 2007; Nguyen and O'Connor 2020). Thousands of distinct iridoid structures have been identified, and naturally occurring iridoids usually include carbocyclic iridoids and secoiridoids (Kouda and Yakushiji 2020).
