Abstract The oocyte germline of the C. elegans hermaphrodite presents a unique model to study the formation of oocytes. However, the size of the model animal and difficulties in retrieval of specific stages of the germline have obviated closer systematic studies of this process throughout the years. Here, we present a transcriptomic level analysis into the oogenesis of C. elegans hermaphrodites.

Abstract High-quality genome assembly and accurate gene annotation are critical to understand the biology and evolutionary history of a species. With the advance in sequencing technologies, assembling large vertebrate genomes using a combination of low-costing short reads and noisy long reads is in the reach of an individual lab. Although many tools have been developed, no single one is able to produce a chromosome-level assembly.

Abstract Our understanding of the precise locations of cis-regulatory elements (CRMs) in the genomes, as well as their functional types (enhancer or silencer), states (active or inactive) and target genes in various cell/tissue types of organisms remains limited, despite recent progresses.
