Research progress on separation of selenoproteins/Se-enriched peptides and their physiological activity Selenium (Se) is an essential nutrient associated with several physiological processes in humans and has raised interest because of its antioxidant and immune properties. Se deficiency is related to a variety of diseases and dysfunctions in hunmans. Due to a higher bioavailability and a lower toxicity, organic Se is more recommendable than inorganic Se in the frame of a balanced diet.
