One of my favorite things about reading is how a book can transport you into someone else’s life. It’s my favorite way to learn about different periods of time, professions and ways of living. It’s this reason why I loved Unleashed, because Caitlin Venniker allowed you rught into her life. And, for as long as I was between the covers of her book, I got to see what it would be like to study veterinarian medicine in South Africa, to go from student to vet and find yourself in doing what you love.

Mike Nicol is a prolific author and journalist. His writing career goes back to 1989 and since then he has published 14 novels, 9 non-fiction books, 2 poetry books, 2 YA novels and 1 short story. His latest book, Falls the Shadow is a crime thriller and the start of a new series. After reading it I had the opportunity to ask him a few questions – on his latest work, writing process and what he thinks about AI and how it will impact the literary world.

Eat Yourself Healthy is one of my favorite Jamie Oliver cookbooks. More than a cookbook, it is a guide to helping your body be the best it can be – starting with the food you put in it. He starts the book with a shopping list of pantry staple items you should have (and that feature in many recipes). He also includes a 2 week meal plan (so you don’t have to think about what to make) and each recipe is broken down into macros.
