The Rev. Jesse Jackson, the famed civil rights leader who marched alongside Martin Luther King Jr. and later ran for president, has died, his family says. He was 84. He died peacefully on Tuesday morning, surrounded by his family, they said in a statement. Jackson was hospitalized for observation in November, and doctors said he'd been diagnosed with a degenerative condition called progressive supranuclear palsy.

11 hours ago A cyclist who was fined for riding his bike “no-handed” has had his case dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). Barrister Paul Powlesland said that City of London Police had ticketed him under the Human Rights Act last July. He contested the fine, which he described as “utterly bonkers”, as he felt it was not illegal to ride whilst not touching the handlebars. Footage taken by Powlesland which quickly went viral shows him confronting an officer about his ticket.

Shen Xin ‘Highland Embassy’ Exhibition Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3.5 out of 5. Running until 21 December 2025, Shen Xin’s Highland Embassy is found inside the Dome Gallery and is a chance for quiet reflection on the landscape that surrounds you after a clamber up Calton Hill. My favourite of the pieces was ‘Bearing fruit of fondness, 2024’, shot on 35mm black and white film and hand developed in a solution made by artist Shen Xin which puts a nostalgic haze of flickering imperfections over the highlands of the Isle of Sky.
