North Carolina police officer charged with assault after video shows him repeatedly punching Black woman during arrest

Obtained by CNN A police officer in Shelby, North Carolina, has been charged with assault and fired after he was seen repeatedly punching a Black woman during an arrest Friday. The officer, Karson Hyder, 22, turned himself in to the Cleveland County Detention Center and was released on a $10,000 bond Monday, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Hyder, who is White, was charged with assault inflicting serious injury. CNN is attempting to reach Hyder for comment.
