ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate the levels of depression, anxiety, and hopelessness in patients following lung resection surgery, as well as the interrelationships among these variables. A descriptive and correlational study was conducted with 177 patients who underwent lung resection between November 2019 and May 2022.

It is important to address and support both cancer patients and their caregivers together during the treatment process, using a holistic approach to evaluate and provide assistance to both groups. Oncology nurses play a crucial role in the successful implementation of healthcare services provided to cancer patients and their caregivers. Nursing interventions should be determined, implemented, and evaluated according to the individual needs of caregivers.
