PITTSBURGH — 11 Investigates has learned that Pittsburgh Police have been called to the Second Avenue Commons nearly 500 times since the beginning of the year. And Chief Investigator Rick Earle discovered that people who live and work in the area are worried about their safety. It’s become an even bigger issue since some people who work near the shelter were recently ordered back to the office full-time for the first time since COVID. Earle obtained dispatch audio from some of the emergency calls.

PITTSBURGH — 11 Investigates learned today that two Pittsburgh police officers have now been moved to unpaid leave, pending the outcome of their cases. This comes less than a month after our report that both men had been getting paid for not working. 11 Investigates has learned that the president of the Pittsburgh police officers' union sent a blistering letter to the mayor and his chief of staff, after he said a police commander who lives outside the city was recently promoted to an acting assistant chief. The mayor said it's a practice that's been going on for several years now.
