The city council made restrictions on putting mobile homes onto properties, which Mayor Wayne Labbe said should be consistent. Former Valley Grande councilman Lamar Morgan suggested $5,000 permits would be effective. The city council approved extending the bid for two weeks, but they would reserve the right to refuse bids.

According to DCSO, Durall Laister, 35, of Plantersville, is a suspect cutting down live phone lines for stealing the copper wiring and aluminum casing. Monica Morris, 51, of Chilton County, was arrested on August 8 in Dallas County and charged with stealing the copper wiring and aluminum casing and telephone lines.

The six-figure funding, if approved, will come from the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act and the FY25 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. It will be considered by the Senate at a later date.

The Smiths lived on Tremont Street in the lovely Italianate Thompson family home where his mother had been raised. Sadly, that house, long since owned by others, was destroyed in the devastating tornadoes that hit Selma in January 2023.

She received a scholarship prize of $3,000. Sydney Pritchett of Selma High was chosen as the first alternate, and Meadowview Christian School’s Catherine Perry was named the second alternate. Pritchett received a second place scholarship prize of $2,000. Perry received a scholarship prize of $1,500.

Albert Finney, 30, is accused in the murder of Christian Moore, 23, who was found burned inside his vehicle in Valley Grande on July 15. The truck was found burned on County Road 230. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office discovered the vehicle burned badly with Moore inside.

In my humble opinion, that is a huge mistake made by Alabama officials. Bryant-Denny Stadium should properly be renamed Bryant-Saban Stadium.
