Half of world’s CO2 emissions come from 36 fossil fuel firms, study shows | Fossil fuels
The Unseen Power Holders: Climate Impact By A Few Recent analysis reveals a staggering truth: half of the global carbon emissions linked to climate change are produced by just 36 fossil fuel companies. This handful of corporations includes global giants such as Saudi Aramco, ExxonMobil, and Shell, demonstrating a concentrated source of emissions that demands urgent attention and accountability.
At G20 Meet, Jaishankar Calls For End To 'Coercion', Stresses Global Agenda Cannot Be Driven By A Few
In a veiled dig at China, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called for and end to coercion on the world stage. He stressed that the global agenda cannot be narrowed down to the interests of a few. Speaking at the first G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Johannesburg, Jaishankar said that the member nations must also recognise that multilateralism itself lies deeply damaged and that the UN and its Security Council are often grid-locked.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, the Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has said that the Nigerian Judiciary has a lot of upright, knowledgeable, hardworking and courageous judges, whose reputations were being tarnished by a few.
How Is This Thing Close? Media Ownership By A Wealthy Few Is Terrible For Democracy

For the love of cherries
Lifestyle A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS The marasca cherry is a small fruit that is said to grow with the best flavor only on the lands of coastal Croatia. While Croatia produces the most marasca cherries, Italy, Slovenia, southern Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina also produce significant amounts. It is even now considered a naturalized plant in North America due to how well it grows without being a nuisance. It has a bitter flavor and a dry pulp that makes it ideal for making liqueur.
Slow-cooked game foods
Lifestyle A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Football season is officially here. That means cooler weather, gatherings in homes and parking lots and rivalries to match no other. Football can bring us together as well as divide a house for a few hours. We wear jerseys or other paraphernalia to show our support for our teams. Paint goes on bodies as well as fingers and funky hats while we scream for our players and yell at the opposing squad.
Easy stovetop meals
Lifestyle A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS We are still dealing with high temperatures and I am still unwilling to turn on the oven to cook dinner. August is here and making its presence known. I am sure you know what I mean. Nothing heats up the house quicker than turning on the oven.
Apple Intelligence: A Great Revolution Enjoyed Only By A Few
Apple Intelligence is very well thought out to integrate into our iPhone, iPad and Mac, but most users will take a long time to be able to use it. There is no doubt that Apple has entered the world of artificial intelligence in a big way, positioning itself in a very intelligent way. Apple Intelligence is not only the technology developed by Apple; the company also has partnered with industry giants such as OpenAI with ChatGPT and aims to do the same with many others, such as Google Gemini.

Keep it cool - Sequoyah County Times
Lifestyle A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Keep it cool I don’t think anyone will disagree with me that it’s just hot right now! July has kicked off and we have already had some 100° days and high humidity just makes it worse. I don’t do well with the heat so I do my best to find every way possible to stay cool from light colored clothes and sitting in front of my little fan to the foods I eat. Yes, the foods we eat can make a difference in staying cool.
Cheese mania - Sequoyah County Times
Lifestyle A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS June is National Dairy Month. Now there are a lot of options with dairy so I had to narrow it down. Well, June 4 is National Cheese Day. As a cheese lover myself, I chose to use this month’s column to celebrate cheese! For me, cheese enhances any dish. I will add it to recipes where there is no cheese and I will add more cheese than called for because it tastes better.
Cheeseburger choices
Lifestyle A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS May is National Hamburger Month! What a great thing to celebrate! I must admit I am extremely picky when it comes to hamburgers. Growing up, Dad made hamburgers a lot. I remember Mom making patties out of the meat when I was younger and then I remember pattying a lot of meat myself as I grew up. We always bought the family packs of ground beef and pattied the meat ourselves, no preformed burgers in our home.
Beautiful bananas
Lifestyle A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS I have always enjoyed bananas. Growing up Dad taught us to eat a bite of banana with a Cheezit. Don’t ask me why, but it works and I like to eat them that way even today. My granny always made banana pudding too for the holidays (or just because I asked for it). I don’t make it often as just Dad and I really ever ate it and now it would just be me, but I think of her every time I do put it together.

Easy dinner for 2
Lifestyle A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I decided to go with smaller meals this week. I often get requests for something that’s not designed to feel four people anyway. You could easily use these recipes for a nice dinner for two OR eat half for dinner one night and save the other half for dinner the next night! this is a test{"epopulate_editorials":"Epopulate"}{"sequoyah-county-times":"Sequoyah County Times"} MORE WINTER OR EARLY SPRING?
The First Week Back on Tsamaya in Carthagena, Spain - January 2 - January 10, 2024
Travel Blog » Europe » Spain » Region of Murcia » Cartagena » Blogs » The First Week Back on Tsamaya in Cartha Europe » Spain » Region of Murcia » Cartagena Published: January 10th 2024 Edit Blog Post A New Year and we are back on Tsamaya! This is definitely earlier than normal, but we decided to try escaping the winter of upstate NY and spend the time in southern Spain instead where our other home, Tsamaya is located. We left on January 2 nd and arrived about 4PM local time on January 3rd.
Love apples
Lifestyle A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS December is National Tomato Month. (It’s also Watermelon Month. Why two fruits in season in the dead of summer are celebrated in the dead of winter is beyond me.) We all know tomato is a hotly debated topic. Is it a fruit? Is it a vegetable? Is it both? this is a test{"epopulate_editorials":"Epopulate"}{"sequoyah-county-times":"Sequoyah County Times"} EUFAULA: Dec. 22. Elevation is four feet below normal (stable). Water temperature is 45 degrees and stained.
Yuletide warmth
Lifestyle A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Christmas traditions change as we age. As we become teens, Santa becomes less of a focus. As we become adults, we start to merge our traditions with those of our significant other. As we have kids, traditions come full circle as we focus on our kids and their joy. As the kids age, traditions shift again as they start having families of their own. Through it all though, one thing remains the same.
Warming muffins
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Warming muffins We have officially moved into December and I am now in full on holiday baking mode. For the last several years, I have broken my holiday baking into 4 weeks instead of cramming it all into 4 days. I just don’t have the time I used to for that. I don’t do any less than I used to though. It just means instead of one huge tray for everyone, the goodies I like to share get broken up into smaller, more manageable trays.
Pie: From coffyn to pastry
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Pie: From coffyn to pastry December 1st is National Pie Day. Pie as in the round crusty dessert, not the irrational number which is spelled pi. Pie by definition is a baked dish at least topped with and sometimes also surrounded by pastry. Pies are filled with fruits, custard, vegetables or meats and come in all sizes from handheld, individual servings to multiple servings.
Cinnamon delights
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Cinnamon delights A cinnamon roll is a sheet of dough heaven with butter spread over it and then sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Some have nuts or raisins added and some versions are made with honey. Then, the dough is rolled up and sliced into even round pieces. Once baked, they are spread with icing and enjoyed the world over. They are often served in a small 2”round or a larger 4” round but the biggest are 8” or even a 10” round served in Finland.
Warm and comforting
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Warm and comforting We tend to turn to comfort foods as the days get shorter and the chill permeates the air. You want something that sticks to your ribs and warms you from the inside out as you eat it. Having the oven on to heat the house doesn’t hurt either. Something cheesy, something filling, you want something that soothes the soul as it fills your belly.
On the lighter side
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS On the lighter side I have been doing this column since 2017 and I struggle a lot with putting content together. It’s not easy pulling four new recipes every week. I am looking for ideas to help me out. To all readers of my column, let me know what you want to see! You can email me at katina@cookson.news or call the office at 918-756-3600 with your ideas.
Botanically Berry
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Botanically Berry Now that Halloween is past us and Thanksgiving is right around the corner, I thought I would do a column I have refused to do for the last 7 years – pumpkin. I am not a fan of pumpkin myself and I don’t understand the hoopla with all the pumpkin spice things that seem to hit the shelves earlier and earlier every year, but I do concede there are plenty of people who DO love it.
Wicked fun food
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Wicked fun food Last weekend’s party was a good one. I have to admit though, I am beginning to wonder if, at 45, I am getting a little too old for the late nights trying to get everything ready for the party. Between decorating and making all the sweet, I was completely worn out on Sunday in a way I never have been before. I might just have to back off a little and I hate to say that out loud.
Bread, Halloween Style
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Bread, Halloween Style For me, Halloween is a time of creativity and family. We make decorations for months and spend time together as a family. It’s a time of friends and fellowship and a time to celebrate another year. For one night, we come together like we never parted. We party and eat and enjoy. It’s a time to get together and just BE for a night, be whatever you want, whatever you can imagine, no matter how fanciful. It’s a party full of good food and laughter.
Noodle Squash
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Noodle Squash Spaghetti squash is a winter vegetable, but readily available year round. It has a nice, nutty flavor and is super easy to cook. It’s a trifecta of perfection when it comes to choices-available, flavorful and easy! Spaghetti squash is an oval vegetable native to Central America and is closely related to pumpkin and zucchini. The rind is firm and tough surrounding a thick flesh with the seeds gathered in the middle much like its cousin, the pumpkin.
Boosting your system naturally
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Boosting your system naturally Cold and flu season is almost upon us. If you read my column on a regular basis, and read it completely, you will notice a lot of the foods I have covered have all sorts of great benefits from reducing your cholesterol to helping prevent heart disease to improving circulation to boosting your immune system.

Game on!
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Game on! Fall is just around the corner and the days have slightly started cooling and soon will be cooling even more. People walking by the windows of our downtown office will go from shorts and tank tops to long sleeves and jeans. Football has already become predominant on the television and conversations around town as our favorite teams compete.
Amazing applesauce
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Amazing applesauce Applesauce is a semisolid puree made from apples cooked in water or apple cider. It can be made with or without the peels and may be spiced, sweetened or just plain. More acidic apples, like the Bramley apple, creates a finer puree. So if you don’t want a lot of texture, pay attention to the apples you use! There are more than 7500 varieties of apples so there are plenty to choose from.
For the dogs
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS For the dogs Dog is truly man’s best friend. A dog is always happy to see you, often eager to show it by jumping or barking in its excitement. We love our dogs and they love us. They are eager to play or go for a walk. They are quick to comfort, often licking our faces or just placing their head in your lap. One way we show appreciation is by providing treats. It’s one way we give our pets a little love or for a job well done.
Leftover cereal
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Leftover cereal So last week, I made Chex mix for the column. The problem with that is I had to buy two different Chex cereals that we don’t eat as just cereal and I don’t need that much Chex mix in my life. So I thought this week, I would use up that cereal in new recipes. Well, it didn’t quite use it all up, but I used a lot more of it.
Quick snacks
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Quick snacks School is back in session as of this week for area kids. If your kids are like the kids I know, they come home starving. The recipes I share this week can be made over the weekend and prepackaged into portions you want the kids to eat. Then, the kids can just grab and eat when they get home each day.
Cooling foods
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Cooling foods It’s August in Oklahoma. What does that mean? High temperatures and humidity with any kind of moisture. That leads to not wanting to cook and heat the kitchen. I know this week has been somewhat cooler, but temperatures are shooting right back up and it’s not going to be pretty with temps of 108° and a high heat index to go along with it. So, I thought I would provide some tips on how to stay cool using the foods you eat.
Sensational seafood
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Sensational seafood Seafood is one of my all-time favorites, as anyone who reads my column should have ascertained by now. I have done two columns on shrimp, a column on crab and I have included many recipes in between for shrimp, tilapia and crab as well as a smattering of cod. Shrimp and fish, usually tilapia, are staples in my home and can always be found in the freezer. When I forget to set something out for dinner, seafood is where I go for a quick meal.

Sensational shark snacks
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Sensational shark snacks Next week starts Shark Week on the Discovery Channel! I am so excited. It’s one magnificent week filled with specials about these razor toothed predators of the oceans. NatGeo had Sharkfest for a couple weeks and I watched it too. These days, with streaming services, I can get sharks anytime I am in the mood and it’s glorious! I am a total shark nerd and have always had a fascination with these misunderstood powerhouses of the deep.
Bountiful blackberries
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Bountiful blackberries Blackberries. What a succulent, powerful little fruit! The bush out behind my house is loaded and they are starting to turn that dark color that lets you know they are ready for picking. You have to be careful though. They grow on brambles, thorny stalks, and if you aren’t paying attention, you can end up with battle scars from picking this treat.
Heart-shaped rose
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Heart-shaped rose I really enjoy a good strawberry. Sitting here in the office, I can almost smell it. I can almost taste the flavor on my tongue and feel the explosion of juice in my mouth. Mmmm, so delicious. They are a diverse fruit and can enhance the flavor of just about anything, but they are packed full of nutrients to help the body too.
Messy hair drupe
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Messy hair drupe I love finding unusual things to cook with. Well, Adrian works at Walmart so when an unusual fruit passed his register, he knew I would want to give it a try. Adrian even purchased the fruit and brought it home to me. Well, I went looking for recipes and let me tell you, there is not much out there.
30-minute meals
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS 30-minute meals I enjoy cooking meals that take little to no time. Since I do most everything after work, the shorter time I have to spend in the kitchen the better. There are things you can do to help make meal cooking quicker though.
