Headcount, premiums and profits at Luxembourg insurers and reinsurers all rose by a healthy clip last year, according to figures released this week by the insurance regulator CAA. The total number of insurance and reinsurance companies operating in the Grand Duchy was down slightly, but the drop was in line with the global trend towards corporate consolidation. Total insurance sector employment in Luxembourg rose by 3.4% in 2025 to 4,979, the CAA said in its annual report on Tuesday.

High temperatures are returning to the Grand Duchy this week, weather forecaster Meteolux has said. While the mercury will rise notably during the daytime, the agency has not yet issued a heatwave warning, likely because overnight low temperatures will allow residents to cool down. Daytime highs are expected to hit 24-27°C in the Grand Duchy on Monday and 23-26°C on Tuesday, with mostly sunny conditions, according to Meteolux.
