Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes! No other form of typing compares. I've invested in a mechanical keyboard to simulate the experience, to the annoyance of my family.

How is social media changing news?

Social media, being ubiquitous, is now making news much more accessible to wider demographics such as youth and marginalized groups.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To be a journalist is to be a messenger to the people and a guardian of the truth.

What's your favorite social network?

Reddit, because it allows for huge threads of long-form discussion on virtually any possible topic.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

While in high school, I completed two half-year co-ops with The Eyeopener, Ryerson University's student paper.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Network. Nothing is more important to a journalist than knowing people within their beats. This enables stories to come to you easily.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Any time. I'm online at all times and always interested in covering relevant stories that will reach an engaged audience.

What's your favorite drink?

Mango lassi. You can take the girl out of the homeland, but you can't take the homeland out of the girl.
