2D finite-element analysis of back-to-back mechanically stabilized earth walls
Abstract Based on the geometry of ramps and bridge abutments, a specific type of reinforced wall, configured in a back-to-back arrangement, is frequently employed in bridge construction. Owing to an incomplete understanding of the behaviour of back-to-back mechanically stabilized earth (BBMSE) walls, technical recommendations for their analysis and design remain limited. This study investigates the behaviour of BBMSE walls using the finite-element method (FEM).
Methane Emission and Carbon Sequestration Potential from Municipal Solid Waste Landfill, India
Abstract : Quantities of waste generation are drastically increasing every day, and most of the waste is disposed of through open dumps and landfilling. Methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide are major greenhouse gases (GHGs) produced from landfill sites. However, the global-warming potential of methane is 21 times higher than that of carbon dioxide. Hence, there is immense concern for its utilization from landfill sites.
