The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by PM Modi, has approved five railway multitracking projects worth approximately Rs 10,021 crore. The projects will add about 540 km of additional rail line across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. The five projects, to be executed by the Ministry of Railways, cover 17 districts and are targeted for completion by 2029-30, according to the government.

The Maharashtra government has given approval to a new four-lane road connecting the Versova-Bandra Sea Link to Pali Hill in Bandra West, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,722.40 crore. The approval came through a government resolution dated July 28, 2026, according to Swarajya Magazine and the Free Press Journal.

Dehradun is Uttarakhand’s seat of government, a defence hub, an education centre, and the gateway the entire Char Dham pilgrimage passes through. The city was built for a population of a few lakh. Census figures put it at roughly 7 lakh in 2011; current estimates place it past 10 lakh. Today, it carries the daily demands of a state capital, a university town, an army cantonment, and the main approach to Mussoorie, Rishikesh, and the Char Dham circuit, which drew over 47 lakh pilgrims in 2025 alone.
