The New Jersey abstract painter Abraham Mashinsky, is one of the most relevant figures of abstract art in New Jersey.

Since an early age, Mashinsky became interested in the works of post-impressionist artists such as Gauguin. Mashinsky’s early artworks are classified as cubism. However, his interest in color contrasts and the dissolution of form through light would lead him to create artworks classified as Orphism.
