JUPITER – The St. Lucie Mets enjoyed a wire-to-wire dominant 11-2 victory over the Jupiter Hammerheads on Tuesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Mets leadoff hitter Antonio Jimenez started the game with a bang, homering on the first pitch of the contest thrown by Jonas Uzcategui. Jimenez went 4 for 6 with the homer, two doubles, four runs and two stolen bases. Needing a triple for the cycle, he struck out and hit into a fielder’s choice in this final two at-bats.

PORT ST. LUCIE. – The St. Lucie Mets are back at Clover Park on Tuesday to host a six-game series against the Tampa Tarpon (New York Yankees Single-A affiliate). The series will feature the Mets annual mega fireworks celebration on Friday, July 3rd with the best pre-Independence Day fireworks extravaganza on the Treasure Coast. First pitch for games Tuesday-Friday is 6:10 p.m. Saturday is a special 2:50 p.m. start time. Sunday’s finale is 12:10 p.m. Great seats for July 3rd are still available.

Tarpons blank Mets 6-0 in series opener

PORT ST. LUCIE – The Tampa Tarpons shut out the St. Lucie Mets 6-0 in the series opener between the teams on Tuesday night at Clover Park. The Tarpons have won four in a row and six out of seven. The Mets have lost five in a row and six out of seven. Four Tarpons pitchers combined to limit the Mets to three hits. The foursome of starter Justin West and relievers Jose Rodriguez, Parker Seay and Pedro Rodriguez did not walk a batter and struck out 11. West pitched 5.1 innings to get the win.
