The Brothers Kenney
Two high school track stars were once close brothers at their competitive best. Now Sean is divorced, broke in New Orleans, and estranged from older sibling Michael “Kick” Kenney, who stayed home in New Jersey and became a successful investment banker and family man. Their sister Katie convinces Sean to come home after telling him their father has died. It turns out, however, that Kick, who was last seen at a hotel on his birthday, is the deceased.

Forgive, but Don’t Forget: On Redemption in Crime Fiction
“Pray you now, forget and forgive,” King Lear says in Act IV, scene VIII. But more importantly, an unfortunately less quoted, right after that, he adds, “I am old and foolish.” Article continues after advertisement The Bard warned us, but we did not listen. So now, half a millennium later, people believe that they should forgive and forget, without reflecting on the fact that the advice was provided by a self-admitted foolish, old king.
The Brothers Kenney
Critically acclaimed author Adam Mitzner has been called a master of the mystery genre. For my money, he also is one of the best legal thriller writers in the business. His latest effort, THE BROTHERS KENNEY, is different from anything he previously has penned.
Five Mystery Thrillers About the Trials and Tribulations of Returning Home
“There’s no place like home,” Dorothy said. But Thomas Wolfe said, “You can’t go home again.” Are both true? Is neither? I’m fascinated by home – the actual place and the people that embody it. I believe that home is like that parable about a river, how you can never really return because it’s not the same place as you left.
THE BROTHERS KENNEY
Twisty and affecting. The last twist is one too many, but the sorrow and love shine through to the end. A washed-up track star back in his hometown for the worst reason in the world resolves to investigate a death nobody but him thinks is suspicious. Sean Kenney has competed with his brother ever since they both ran the 1600-meter event at East Carlisle High School.
Five Legal Thrillers that Transcend the Genre
by | May 16, 2023 | Features, Five Things Most genre authors hate the term transcend the genre because it’s often used to mean better than. I’m using it here to mean more than — because these books provide something more than a riveting portrayal of the legal system and a shocking twist — just as I hope that my book — LOVE BETRAYAL MURDER, does with its focus on #MeToo.
Realism and License in Legal Thrillers
I make mistakes in all my books. Once I described the USS Intrepid as a battleship. A reader who had served on her during World War II set me straight that she was an aircraft carrier. Another time I had a character gazing out onto the Atlantic from the shores of Sag Harbor. A local told me that Sag Harbor is on the Long Island Sound, a tidal estuary of the Atlantic. (And yes, I had to look up what that meant.) There are others. A lot of others. All of my errors, however, are inadvertent.

Financial Thrillers and Wall Street Noirs
Money and murder make for an irresistible combination for a thriller. The world of high finance is one that I have always found compelling, not only because of the enormous amounts of money—earned, lost, and spent—that are at play, but also due to the types of people who inhabit that world. They risk everything, every day. Immersed in that type of work experience, it is hard to imagine they have normal lives after the markets close.

The People's Money
When it comes to the economy, American voters can no longer count on the Political Class. We are the ones who truly want progress, and—despite what politicians would lead us to believe—we are the only ones willing to make the difficult but necessary changes that willrestore our country’s fiscal sanity. For years, Americans have elected candidates who promise to reduce spending. Yet spending has steadily increased for more than half a century.
Jane Eyre Audiobook | Charlotte Bronte | Audible.com
"I think the reason we're so struck by [Jane Eyre] is how Charlotte Brontë manages to relate, expertly, what it means to be a human being...and that never changes." (Narrator Thandie Newton) Following Jane from her childhood as an orphan in Northern England through her experience as a governess at Thornfield Hall, Charlotte Brontë's Gothic classic is an early exploration of women's independence in the mid-19th century and the pervasive societal challenges women had to endure.
