JOHOR BARU: Barisan Nasional appears to be in a favourable position in the first week of the Johor election campaign. But with only five days of campaigning completed, the race remains open. Backed by its track record in governing the state, Johor BN and its chairman, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, enter the race on a strong footing as they seek a fresh mandate from 2.7 million eligible voters in the July 11 polls.

JOHOR BARU: The battle lines of the Johor election saw a slight shift in the past few days after Perikatan Nasional's Pas instructed its members not to vote for Pakatan Harapan in seats the coalition is not contesting. Political observers said the shift in battle lines, including Pas' decision to deploy its election machinery only in the 11 seats it is contesting, has changed the dynamics in some of the 56 seats up for grabs in the July 11 polls.

THE campaign for the 16th Johor Election had barely entered its first 24 hours when the battle lines were redrawn. Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man called on Perikatan Nasional supporters to vote for Umno in seats not contested by the opposition bloc, in a bid to prevent Pakatan Harapan from expanding its seat count.
