Expedition 403: Sailing the Last Expedition of the JOIDES Resolution
Scientific ocean drilling (SciOD) aboard the riserless drill ship JOIDES Resolution (JR) provided unique opportunities for thousands of scientists and laid career foundations for many early-career researchers (ECRs). Raising a Quaran-Teen: Why It’s Now Harder To ‘Let Go’
I never imagined raising a teenager during a pandemic. I am the mother of a teenager, and not just any teenager: a ‘quaranteen’ - that is, my kid reached this milestone during the COVID-19 pandemic. Time Scavengers is a web community exploring Earth’s climate and life through deep time - The Plainspoken Scientist
It was a cold, dreary day in December, not even two weeks after the 2016 election. We were two graduate students, Adriane and Jen, and were both down in the dumps, feeling deflated and wondering what direction our country would go in next. More than anything, we were both frustrated with the media, public, and country in general. Furthermore, we were completely discouraged and appalled at the general lack of care and understanding regarding climate change.
