Multiple years into NXT UK, WWE introduced a secondary championship for the company's brand in the United Kingdom in 2020 with the NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship. The cup was different from WWE's past and current championships, being defended in British Rounds rules in a callback to the history of British wrestling that many watched during the previous century, notably during the World of Sport era that featured such stars as Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks.
