A freelance marketplace can have a strong idea, a clear gap in the market, and still run dry within the first year. The cause is almost never the concept itself. Money is usually the problem. More specifically, how the founder planned, or failed to plan, for what building a freelance platform actually costs. Most founders do build a budget before they start. That part is not the issue. The problem is what gets counted and what gets left out, along with the order in which money gets spent.
