Police are searching for potential victims of a former youth volleyball coach in Edmonton who is about to be sentenced for pleading guilty to possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material. Steven Cabral, 33, was arrested in May 2025 and charged with three offences. He pleaded guilty to one of the three two weeks ago.

Edmonton property taxes are due Tuesday. The bills were sent out five weeks ago. Taxes this year are expected to generate more than $2.5 billion, which will be put toward public infrastructure and services. After a 6.9-per cent tax levy increase, homeowners are expected to pay $53 more than they did last year for every $100,000 in assessed home value. Local truck parts company fined after worker’s 2024 fall

An Edmonton company has been fined following a 2024 incident that left a worker seriously injured. Fleet Brake Parts and Service Ltd. pleaded guilty on June 24 to failing to ensure a worker was protected from falling under the Occupational Health and Safety Code. The company was handed a fine of $138,000, which it has 30 days to appeal. On Jan. 22, 2024, a worker at a heavy-duty truck parts and service centre was struck by a vehicle hood and fell into an open drop pit.
