Over the years, I’ve avidly followed automated penetration testing and its evolution, trying to determine whether it had the maturity to replace human pen testers outright. Progress was glacial and iterative, with many flaws and downsides, but also significant potential. In the past year, with a flurry of releases of AI-based pen testing tools, both open-source and commercial, I’ve had the opportunity to test many of them in depth, in side-by-side comparisons with human pen testers.

North Devon runner completes 24-hour dune challenge to raise thousands for children’s charity

A North Devon runner pushed himself through 24 gruelling hours on the dunes of Woolacombe to raise more than £2,000 for children with disabilities. Eduard “Eddie” Grecu completed a 5K Park Run every hour for an entire day in support of The Penguin Sports Foundation. Starting at 9am on Saturday, April 25, Eddie took on the challenge at the demanding Woolacombe Dune Park Run course before finally crossing the finish line at 9am the following morning.

Former North Devon pupil honoured for advocacy and charity work at Autism Hero Awards

Former Kingsley School pupil Jack Roberts has spoken about overcoming years of ill health, isolation and PTSD after being crowned an Autism Hero at an international awards ceremony in London. The 21-year-old, who is originally from the Barnstaple area and now lives in Cardiff, won the Personal Achievement Award at the 2026 Autism Hero Awards on May 9, organised by the charity Anna Kennedy Online.
