What was your first job as a journalist?

Political Unit intern at CBS News in Washington, D.C.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Nope!

How is social media changing news?

People can get the news much quicker, but it sometimes allows for facts to get lost in a sea of speculation, theories and weird conclusions.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Clark Kent.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Inform the public about significant events occurring on a daily basis, and explain why what happened matters (or should matter) to them.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

Don't remember.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Editors, trusted sources and even flacks (when it's not purely fluff for their boss) all suffice.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Twitter, Google alerts, various news sites.

What's your favorite social network?

Facebook socially, Twitter professionally.

Who do you wish followed you?

No one person in particular.

Why did you become a journalist?

I think it's a very gratifying and rewarding career. Also, I love to write and find out fascinating information before everyone else does.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I think I wrote an article or two. If I could go back I would have written more, though.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I broke the story that Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi (R) would call on then Rep. Trey Radel (R-Fla.) to resign for cocaine possession.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Be ambitious/shoot for the moon, be persistent, be resourceful, don't be afraid

When's the best time to pitch you?

Most times in the late morning to early evening.
