While many things have changed in Duluth, one thing that’s stayed pretty consistent is Grandma’s Marathon. As the city gears up for the 50th running of the iconic North Shore Race, one man has seen it all. John Naslund, a Two Harbors native and UMD alum, stands as the last Iron Man, the last person to run in every single Grandma’s Marathon since 1977. Now in his mid 70s, he says it’s been a challenge.
