The molecular drivers of IP-associated SNSCC (IP-SNSCC) remain poorly defined, and no effective therapies are available. Novel drug targets in 2025

In 2025, 94 novel drugs (excluding vaccines and gene therapies) approved for the first time in the United States, European Union, Japan and China have well-defined mechanism of action (MoA) targets (Nat. Rev. Drug Discov.16, 19–34; 2017) based on the package inserts and primary literature. Among these, there are 11 novel MoA targets, defined as targets not previously modulated by approved drugs. These targets and the corresponding ten drugs are briefly outlined in Table 1.
