WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Back in 2023, David Watts wanted to find a Bible study to join. His mom suggested he visit the worship night at Shepherd’s Way. “Everybody there was welcoming,” Watts said. “They, every time I came, they were excited to see me, and that made me want to keep coming back.” The nonprofit lifts up people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by putting them on a path to live independently. In October 2024, Watts moved into one of the organization’s six Wichita houses.

$30 million in 30 years: Western Kansas nonprofit marks major milestone Original

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A donation no matter how small has potential to grow. The Western Kansas Community Foundation is proof of that concept. “Once we continue granting this year, we will have given over $30 million across southwest Kansas,” said Stacie Hahn, program and marketing director. This year marks 30 years of the foundation serving 15 counties, all because a group of Kansans wanted to better their home back in 1996.
