LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Today marks the first day in more than a week without a meaningful chance for afternoon or evening storms. Instead, sunshine and a warming atmosphere will push temperatures into the mid to upper 90s across the region. High pressure is expanding overhead, creating a much more stable atmosphere through the weekend. This means, most places will stay dry, but we can’t rule out a stray storm or two Saturday evening.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - There’s another opportunity for scattered showers and storms this afternoon before the forecast turns noticeably hotter and drier heading into the Fourth of July weekend. There were some heavy downpours, continuing this trend of welcome rain in recent weeks.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Another round of storms is expected to develop across the South Plains this evening with the greatest chance for rain along and west of Interstate 27. High temperatures today will reach the mid 90s(KCBD) The set up is pretty similar to what we saw Monday. Moist air flowing north from the Gulf of Mexico will combine with warm temperatures and an upper-level disturbance moving across the western U.S. will combine to trigger storms near the Texas-New Mexico state line.
