Alice Levitt’s Biography

I'm an award-winning restaurant critic, globally focused food writer and editor, and health and technology writer, always in search of the next big discovery.

With more than 18 years experience, I've spent time interning with a whole animal butcher in Vermont, ventured to Xinjiang for cheese, and spoken at a nanomedical conference in Calabria. I'm currently based in Virginia, where I'm contributing food critic for Northern Virginia Magazine.

Seven Daysies

2015 - Best print/online journalist

For the final two years that it was awarded, I won the popular choice for best journalist in Vermont. I was the first woman and the first food writer to be bestowed that honor. Here's what Seven Days said at the time, "Seven Days senior food writer and media personality Alice Levitt has attracted a following with her in-the-know food news, features and reviews, as well as her weekly cheap-eats blog series on Bite Club called Alice Eats."

Association of Food Journalists

2016 - Best Newspaper Food Feature, below 100,000 circulation

Third place, won for Seven Days, “Sorry, Charlie: The Life, Death and Afterlife of a Vermont Steer”
