White Hot: The Rise and Fall Of Abercrombie and Fitch
Documentary Directed By: Alison Klayman Where I Watched it: Netflix English Audio Description Available?: Yes The Plot: I think the title pretty much says it all. It attempts to chronicle the rise and fall of clothing brand and former mall staple Abercrombie and Fitch. What Works: Starting on the positive, I can’t really decide whether the short runtime is a burden or a gift. If the director was just going to keep doing more of the same, then I’d say blessing.
Azuma Makoto’s Provocative Botanical Sculptures, in “Flower Punk”
Alison Klayman’s documentary shows how a former punk musician brought his sensibility—part poet, part mad scientist—to the unlikely medium of floral art. The correct answer is Azuma Makoto, the Japanese botanical artist who is the star of “Flower Punk,” Alison Klayman’s delightful, and unexpectedly moving, documentary film.

“THE BRINK”: “What would Leni Riefenstahl do?” May 7, 2019 by butlerscinemascene “THE BRINK” My rating: B (Now at the Screenland Tapcade) 91 minutes | No MPAA rating Most liberals, it’s safe to say, would rather endure three hours of oral surgery than spend 90 minutes with Steve Bannon, alt-right Sith lord and mastermind behind the Trump presidential campaign. They ignore Bannon at their own peril.

That morning, I had shown him rushes from what was still a secret project. I had been following Steve Bannon around the world for the past several months as he sought to unite the far-right into an international movement. Japan was a happy respite from my travels with Bannon.
