Nagas: A Charming Art Gallery and Mini Museum Hybrid
Ilian Rebei, art dealer and founder of Nagas Gallery By Amanda Wall May 30th, 2026 I met Ilian Rebei, art dealer and founder of Nagas Gallery, at NADA in New York. When I arrived for our interview, I felt like I was entering an intimate, Parisian nineteenth century gallery. Imagine Theo van Gogh, in Montmartre, at Boussod, Valadon & Cie. He served me tea in a pretty porcelain cup from India, while bringing to my attention the Surrealist, Valentine Hugo, in an art book.

Kenny Rivero’s latest preview of his work caught my attention at NADA
Kenny Rivero Morning Shift, 2025 Oil on linen over panel 8 x8 inches By AMANDA WALL January 27th, 2026 Kenny Rivero’s latest preview of his work caught my attention at NADA [New Art Dealer Alliance] during Art Miami 2025, proof that bigger is not better. Obsessed about one small Rivero painting, Morning Shift, I was compelled to see the entire exhibition, Ash on Everything, at Charles Moffat Gallery. I finally understand how a collector falls in love with a work of art.
Clio Art Fair's New Fall Edition
By AMANDA WALL September 24, 2025 The Clio Art Fair, referred to as the anti-fair, is a rare opportunity for independent artists to exhibit without gallery representation. Alessandro Berni, art dealer/founder of Clio, has built a niche empire. Despite a recent art market downturn, Clio is expanding with a second fall season edition. Artists are selected to curate a cohesive, culturally relevant and diverse exhibition of international, emerging artists.
Dreams and Definitions: Amanda Wall & Joseph Kosuth at Almine Rech
Dreams and Definitions: Amanda Wall & Joseph Kosuth at Almine Rech Art Events, Paris Paris in September always feels like a return to rhythm—streets alive with ideas, galleries brimming with new provocations. This season, Almine Rech presents two exhibitions that couldn’t be more different in language, yet equally magnetic in their pull: Amanda Wall’s Beddy Bye at Avenue Matignon, and Joseph Kosuth’s The Question on rue de Turenne.
Fragmented, Luminous, Alive: Amanda Wall at Almine Rech
Fragmented, Luminous, Alive: Amanda Wall at Almine Rech Art Events, Paris Amanda Wall — “Beddy Bye” and the Poetry of the Fragmented Self Gertrude Stein once wrote that nothing truly changes from one generation to the next except the thing seen — and that what matters is how the portrait is written, or rather, created… and felt. In her defense of repetition in art, Stein insisted that her repetitions were never exact, but altered, refined, charged with new emphasis.
Small Format Painting at 56 Henry Gallery
By AMANDA WALL June 28, 2025 56 Henry Gallery collaborated with artist, Josh Smith and art dealer, Leo Fitzpatrick to curate an exhibition focused on small format paintings. As soon as you see the precariously spray-painted sign with no gallery logo, you discover this show isn’t just touching on the trend in smaller works. This exhibition is a collective convergence of established artists and skaters who are artists. My instinct was to find the Josh Smith immediately.
Cacophony of Domestic Angst
By AMANDA WALL March 15, 2025 The title, Domestic Bliss, sets the tone for a sarcastic teen perspective as memory. Alexander Berggruen, a young Upper East Side gallery in New York, with a fresh perspective, just announced the representation of Stephanie H. Shih, congruent with her first solo exhibition with the gallery. Clever is Shih’s ability to interpret parental angst through the lens of a 90s adolescent.
Opinion: A Return to the Origins of Art
By AMANDA WALL January 19, 2024 In 2024, I exhibited with Alessandro Berni Gallery, at Clio in New York and Aqua Art Miami. Before the fairs, I had a solo exhibition with Azure Arts, in the Lower East Side. Exhibitions and networking opportunities are so exciting and rewarding! They keep you motivated and working hard towards your goals. I’ve also worked behind the scenes in the art world and that comes with a very different perspective.

'Fancy Dance' Provides an Escape to the Sky World
I had the privilege of seeing Fancy Dance – directed by Erica Tremblay – at Barnard College, at a screening sponsored by the Athena Film Festival. I don’t remember the last time I really cried at the end of a film, but, thankfully, Jan Lisa Huttner (FF2’s Editor-in-Chief) was there to hold my hand. I’m from Kansas but lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma. My grandmother is half Cherokee and still alive at 96 years old. My great grandmother grew up in Tahlequah, or for those who don’t know, Cherokee Nation.

Ag Gag Legislation Revived in Iowa Senate | JD Supra
In February, livestock producers tallied another important victory when a committee of the Iowa Senate approved legislation (House File 572; Senate File 520) previously passed by the Iowa House that would prohibit flying surveillance drones within 400 feet of open feedlots and animal confinements. Passed in an 87-to-10 House vote, the bill failed to reach the full Iowa Senate during the last legislative session but is now eligible to do so.
Ag Gag Legislation Revived in Iowa Senate
The winding path of Ag Gag legislation in Iowa has become significantly straighter in 2024. First, in January, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit reversed lower court rulings that blocked Iowa state laws seeking to prohibit the use of deceptive practices to gain entry to livestock facilities. The lower court rulings were premised on the notion that the laws violated free speech, a position the appeals court found unwarranted.
Pipilotti Rist: Painting with Pixels in Immersive Exhibits
It’s a rare occasion that I have to visit two galleries for the rockstar Swiss artist of immersive video and installation, Pipilotti Rist, but my travels recently took me to New York City’s Hauser & Wirth and Luhring Augustine to experience exhibits by Pipilotti, each presented in their own ways. At Hauser & Wirth, you become immersed in an interior space. In contrast, at Luhring Augustine, you start in the “backyard” and end in the darkness of another dimension.

Rotting in the Sun is an unhinged and hilarious comedy about sex and death. Rotting in the Sun, the new downbeat gay comedy from Chilean director Sebastián Silva, is about sex and death. Or, more accurately, the feeling of life crumbling beneath a pile of dicks. New/Next’s film promo materials informed attendees of its high penis quotient; Silva has reportedly estimated there are at least 40 of them. Even a statue replica of David gets into the fun.
